The AcToVax4NAM team in Spain has piloted an innovative gamification-based tool called VacGame. It has been implemented in different trainings targeted at health professionals directly involved with migrant populations and vaccination. This tool was developed to raise awareness about vaccination-related issues among Professionals FOR Health (PFH), facilitate access to health resources for NAM and improve their vaccination coverage.

The Vacgame approach features a theoretical-practical approach to a fictional situation that participants have to solve in groups, promoting cooperative work within the group and a competitive aspect among different groups. The VacGame is conducted in structured training sessions in a face-to-face format with a maximum duration of 1.30 hours, with a maximum of 40 participants per training. The VHIR Spain team has created a video summarising the instructions and presenting the game scenario. Currently only available in Spanish.

The pilot was carried out at various primary care centres across the province of Barcelona, including Manso Primary Health Centre, Drassanes International Health Centre, Plana Lledó de Mollet del Vallès Health Centre and Roger Barcelona Health Centre.  This pilot study was approved from the Ethics Committee of VHIR and the Ethics Committee of JordiGol Primary Care Research Institute (IDIAP Jordi Gol).
