The Directorate of Operational Preparedness for Public Health Emergencies aims in providing high quality healthcare services in populations affected by both, natural and non, disasters and emergencies while mitigating public health crisis’ impact. With an almost two decade experience in crisis management, formerly named National Health Operations Centre -EKEPY, this ministerial Directorate, acts as the major supervising and coordinating body, for all healthcare services provided in Greece, public and private, in regard to public health crisis preparedness and response.
While working closely with other governmental agencies and organizations, has contributed significantly in drafting not only Greek National Operational Plan about Malaria (aka Merope), but also the National Covid-19 Vaccination Strategy. Furthermore, in cooperation with multiple stakeholders, NGOs and international organizations, oversees and coordinates the provision of healthcare services in migrants, especially after the outbreak of the refugee crisis back in 2015.
